Henna Inspired Cookies

I made these henna-inspired cookies for a birthday party last week.  Based on the art of drawing decorative patterns on the hands and feet, usually before a wedding or celebration, henna art is intricate and detailed.  These cookie designs took their inspiration from some of the typical patterns used, but was done in a more modern style, with lots of space to contrast with the detailed patterns.

These took quite a while to do, as you can imagine!  But I really love the end result.

I know they were a hit as they were all devoured in 5 minutes flat.  This is one tasty vanilla sugar cookie.  They are my kind of cookies: both delicious and pretty at the same time!
